Why Michael Shannon Should Play Beethoven in a Biopic

Actor Michael Shannon has an uncanny resemblance to the iconic composer Ludwig Van Beethoven. He has the same piercing eyes, same eyebrows, similar lip-line and philtrum. A very similar nose and an almost uncanny similar chin.

Shannon is a prolific A-List actor whose credits include Revolutionary Road, The Shape of Water and 12 Strong, currently in theaters. He has also worked with Iranian American director Ramin Bahrani in the film 99 Homes. He was directed by Bahrani again in the HBO film set to be released this year Fahrenheit 451.

Despite Shannon standing almost a foot taller than Beethoven at 6’3, camera magic can hide this detail. Beethoven has been depicted before in several films. Gary Oldman played the German composer in Immortal Beloved. As did Ed Harris in Copying Beethoven. Michael Shannon looks significantly more like Beethoven, however.

All that is needed now is a good script.
