Ava Lalezarzadeh Proof of Concept ‘Gardens of Tulips’

Actress and filmmaker Ava Lalezarzadeh is in pre-production for her proof of concept film In the Garden of Tulips. Based on the true story of her mom, the film recounts the final car ride a 15 year old Persian-Jewish girl takes with her father before she is smuggled out of the country. Set to direct this period piece film set in 1988 Iran, is Julia Elihu, whose films have gone to win a Grand Jury Prize at AFI, a recent documentary acquired by PBS and The New Yorker, and her most recent film Winter of ‘79, has currently qualified to many Oscar qualifying film festivals. Under Julia’s cinematic and keen eye, the road movie is looking to create a character driven portrait to be shot on 16mm film.
