Nasim Pedrad continues to make headlines and create history. The SNL alum has been cast as Mara, in Disney’s live action film Aladdin.
Pedrad joins prolific Persian Golshifteh Farahani as another Iranian born actress to be cast in a Disney film. Farahani starred in this year’s blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Men Tell No Tales.
Pedrad’s character Mara is friend of Jasmine’s and will have comedic undertones. Coincidentally, Pedrad played Jasmine in a skit on SNL. Pedrad becomes the first Iranian born actor to join the film version of Aladdin, as Disney is looking to add diversity to this upcoming blockbuster starring Will Smith as the Genie.
In the meantime watch Nasim Pedrad in the TBS series People of Earth.
