The L Word on Showtime is back. And this time there is not just one actress of Iranian heritage in the cast, but two. In the original series Sarah Shahi rose to fame as Carmen.
In the newest series, The L Word : Generation Q, two actresses of Persian heritage have starring roles. Sepideh Moafi plays Gigi and Arienne Mandi plays Dani.
The new reboot of The L Word has brought back Jennifer Beals, Katherine Moennig, and Leisha Hailey. Fans are also clamoring on social media forums for Shahi to reprise her role as well.
What’s refreshing about Moafi and Mandi is that they are not just playing Persian characters. Mandi is half Iranian and half Chilean. Meaning their acting prowess is versatile enough for them to get cast in non-Middle Eastern roles.
Tune in to The L Word Generation Q, which airs Sundays on Showtime.
