Sheila Vand has range. The 32-year-old Iranian American actress can play a complex and emotionally layered vampire – as she did in Ana Lily Amirpour’s noir cult classic, A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night. She can play comedy, holding her own with Maz Jobrani in his film Jimmy Vestvood. She could narrate the entire opening sequence of a film, Argo, that won the Academy Award for Best Picture, and in the same film play a girl who’s good at keeping a secret.
Vand is next starring in the new feature film Aardvark, co-starring Jon Hamm, Zachary Quinto, and Jenny Slate. Sheila plays the role of Hannah in this suspenseful film new to theaters this past weekend. Having debuted last year at the TriBeCa Film Festival.
Sheila Vand has already built an impressive filmography, along with the aforementioned films, she has also stared in television roles in State of Affairs, Life, Minority Report, 24 : Legacy and the film Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, among other projects.
Sheila is next starring in another film directed by an Iranian American woman, Vulture Club – directed by Maryam Keshavarz, in another ensemble of A-List actors – including Matt Bomer and Susan Sarandon.
When you are an integral part of a growing number of films with A-List ensembles, and are respected and befriended by such (See Pedro Pascal’s Instagram) as Sheila Vand happens to be, that also puts you in the A-List. We get the feeling Sheila Vand is just warming up.
