Halloween has been a long standing tradition for centuries. The concept of Trick-O-Treating started with the Celts and has morphed to school aged children going to the homes strangers asking for candy. The worst candy are the ones that stick the longest to the teeth and cause the most stress upon chewing. Tooth decay is not just caused by candy, but by any form of sugar (glucose). Even bread, if not brushed off teeth, can caused cavities. But candy is eaten frequently. Combined with poor oral hygiene tooth decay can form rapidly in children, whose teeth are smaller and more prone to breakdown of enamel.

Here is my list of the Top 5 Worst Halloween Candy – 2019 Edition.

#1 : Jaw Breakers

The name alone says it all. If the candy in question can break your jaw while you eat it then there is a good chance it should be avoided. This candy causes great stress on the teeth upon chewing.

#2 : Jolly Ranchers

The only thing jolly about this candy is the profit for its manufacturer. Jolly Ranchers notoriously stick to the teeth and are almost impossible to remove, unless pried off with fingers. They stick to the teeth and with poor oral hygiene can lead to tooth decay.

#3 : Tootsie Roll Pop

Tootsie Rolls have been around for decades. Not only do lollipops stay in the mouth longer than traditional candy, but once the candy is melted it is then chewed in the mouth. Thus sticking to the teeth.

#4 : Good and Plenty

The names of these candies must derive from the fact that there is a good and plenty chance that they can lead to tooth decay.

#5 : Laffy Taffy

These candies also notoriously stick to teeth are difficult to remove. There is nothing laughable about this candy brand.
