Amazon’s sci-fi series The Expanse has made history with the addition of new cast member, Keon Alexander. With the addition of Alexander, The Expanse now has three actors of Iranian heritage as cast members on its show.

The Expanse stars Emmy winner and Oscar nominee, Shohreh Aghdashloo as well as seasoned actor, Cas Anvar. The Expanse is set in a future where humanity has colonized the Solar System.

Aghdashloo plays high-ranking United Nations politician Chrisjen Avasarala on the show. She has continued to make history on television for Middle Eastern women. It is not the only time Shohreh has played a high ranking official in space. Cas Anvar was born in Canada to Iranian parents. He plays Alex Kamal on The Expanse. Cas portrayed Dodi Fayed in the film Diana, co-starring Naomi Watts as the titular character. Keon Alexander has stared in Tyrant, NCIS, and will be seen in the upcoming film A Simple Wedding also co-starring Aghdashloo. The film is produced by and co-stars Rita Wilson.

The Expanse is now streaming on Amazon’s Prime Video. It previously aired on SyFy. Critics have praised the series’ special visual effects and character development. Amazon has renewed the series for a fifth season.
