Golshifteh Farahani, the 33 year old Iranian born actress who has starred with some of Hollywood’s biggest stars, will be adding Johnny Depp to that list. Farahani has been in films with the likes of actors such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Christian Bale and Antonio Banderas to name a few. She will be joining the fifth film of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, Dead Men Tell No Tales.

Farahani is an award winning actress who has already built a prolific film and theater resume. She has worked with directors such as Ridley Scott, Asghar Farhadi and Jim Jarmusch. She will be directed by Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg for the newest Pirates film. Producing the 5th installment is Jerry Bruckheimer Films and Walt Disney Pictures.

The Pirates film will bring back Geoffrey Rush and Orlando Bloom. It will also be featuring Javier Bardem and Paul McCartney in addition to Farahani. In Dead Men Tell No Tales Bardem will play Captain Salazar, a ghost pirate seeking revenge against Captain Jack Sparrow (Depp).

Farahani ‘s character will be Haifaa Meni. It’s unclear if Farahani’s role is that of a hero or antihero. It would be plausbile if she is cast as a Baroness or a Dutchess. It also wouldn’t be implausible to imagine her character as that of a libertine, like a Catwoman of the Sea, perhaps. If that would be the scenario, being of Iranian origin and residing in the capital of France in real life, Farahani would be considered a Persian Parisian Pirate.
