Omid Abtahi Makes History as the First Actor of Persian Heritage in a Star Wars Franchise – Starring as Dr. Pershing

Omid Abtahi is not a name that an average Iranian knows by heart. And that’s just the way Abtahi likes it. He is a humble actor of immense talent. Not all Persians may know of Abtahi, at least not as fervently as Star Wars fans know him. Omid stars as Dr. Pershing on the Disney+ Star Wars franchise, The Mandalorian. The Jon Favreau created series co-stars two of our faves : Pedro Pascal and Gina Carano among others.

Abtahi’s character is a doctor and scientist who works The Client to retrieve The Child, a baby-Yoda like character. Omid previously voiced a Mandalorian character named Amis in Star Wars : The Clone Wars. Abtahi has an extensive filmography dating back to 2005. He gave a riveting performance in three episodes of Homeland. He was best known previously as Salim on American Gods. Omid has also lent his voice regularly to many video games.

Omid Abtahi is a prolific character actor who has gained the respect of his fellow peers. Nazanin Boniadi called him one of the best actors she has ever worked with. Praise like that and moving performances capture the attention of the Bob Iger’s and Kathleen Kennedy’s of the world. Keep an eye on Omid Abtahi as he navigates the Star Wars galaxy and see of Dr. Pershing’s purported plans to clone The Child.
