Three Iranian born actresses have been chosen to become voting members of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences class of 2017. Nazanin Boniadi, Golshifteh Farahani, and Leila Hatami are now members of The Academy.
Nazanin Boniadi will be seen in the upcoming film Hotel Mumbai. She played Esther in the 2016 remake of Ben-Hur, which grossed $100 Million. She became the first Iranian born female lead of a major studio blockbuster budgeted film.
Golshifteh Farahani plays Shansa in Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Men Tell No Tales now in theaters. The newest Pirates film has already grossed over $600 Million.
Leila Hatami is best known for her role in the Academy Award winning Asghar Farhadi film A Separation.
